Personalized Eye Care
Advanced Eye Care, Personalized to You
Your eyes are unique. Your vision needs are unique. And your treatment should be, too.
At Cornea & Cataract Consultants of Orlando, we believe exceptional eye care begins with understanding the individual—not simply treating a diagnosis. Led by Harvard-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist Dr. Sunali Goyal, our practice provides advanced care for cataract, corneal disease, keratoconus, refractive condition, dry eye, and both routine and complex eye disorder. From your first consultation through treatment and follow-up, we take the time to understand your eye health, lifestyle, visual priorities, and long-term goals. Our goal is to develop a treatment plan that is appropriate for your eyes and designed around the way you want to see and live.

What Does Personalized Eye Care Mean?
Personalized eye care means we don’t assume the same treatment is right for everyone with the same condition. Two patients can share a diagnosis and have very different visual needs. Someone who reads all day has different priorities than a night driver, a computer professional, an athlete, or a patient who wants less dependence on glasses. That’s why your evaluation goes beyond a routine exam. Dr. Goyal takes the time to understand not only the condition of your eyes, but how you use them every day.
Dr. Goyal considers:
- Lifestyle, occupation, and visual demands, from screen time to sports to driving
- Overall eye health and corneal anatomy, including the shape, thickness, and surface of your cornea
- Current vision and visual quality, including night vision, glare, and clarity
- Reliance on glasses or contact lenses, and how you feel about it
- Previous eye surgery or treatment
- Your expectations and visual goals
- Your long-term eye health
This information helps us identify which treatments are right for you, and just as importantly, which are not. We’ll explain your options, the reasoning behind our recommendation, and what results you can realistically expect, so you can make decisions about your care with confidence.
Personalized Cataract Care
Your Cataract Surgery Should Be About More Than Removing the Cataract
Cataract surgery is one of the most common eye procedures, but no two patients have the same visual goals. Some want sharp distance vision for driving. Others want to read a menu or check their phone without glasses. Many want both. At Cornea & Cataract Consultants of Orlando, Dr. Goyal takes a personalized approach. Before recommending a surgical plan or lens, she evaluates your eyes, lifestyle, visual priorities, and expectations, so your treatment fits how you live, not just what shows up on your exam.
Your cataract evaluation may include:
- Monofocal lenses
- Advanced-technology and premium lens options
- Astigmatism correction
- Refractive goals
- Corneal and ocular surface health
The goal isn’t simply to remove the cataract. It’s to build a vision plan that fits your needs and expectations.
A More Personalized Cataract Consultation
During your consultation, we’ll talk through:
Your vision goals:
- How do you want to see after surgery?
- How important is reducing your dependence on glasses?
- Which activities matter most to you, such as reading, driving, sports, or screen work?
- Do you drive at night, and does glare or halos bother you?
- Would you be comfortable wearing reading glasses for some tasks, or do you want to avoid them?
Your eyes and history
- Do you have astigmatism?
- Do you have dry eye or other corneal or ocular surface conditions that could affect your results?
- Have you had LASIK, PRK, or other eye surgery?
- Do you have other eye conditions, such as glaucoma or macular degeneration?
- What do your eyes feel like at the end of a long day?
Your answers guide the conversation about your surgical and lens options. Dr. Goyal will explain what each option can and can’t do, why she recommends a particular approach, and what results to realistically expect, so you can decide with confidence.

Personalized Corneal Care
Your Cornea Shapes How You See
The cornea is the clear front surface of the eye, and it does much of the work of focusing light. Even subtle changes in its shape, clarity, or health can affect your vision, causing blur, distortion, glare, or discomfort. Dr. Goyal has advanced training in Cornea and External Diseases and provides specialized care for a wide range of corneal conditions. Because no two corneas are alike, your care plan is built around your eyes, your diagnosis, and your goals.
Keratoconus Care Built Around Your Progression
Keratoconus causes the cornea to thin and bulge, which can distort vision. Your care is tailored to the severity and progression of your condition, beginning with advanced diagnostic imaging to track changes in your cornea over time.
Cross-Linking, When It’s Right for You
For appropriate patients with progressive keratoconus, cross-linking strengthens and stabilizes the cornea to help slow further progression. Identifying progression early can help protect the vision you have.
A Transplant Evaluation Based on Your Eyes and Your Goals
When corneal disease significantly affects vision or corneal health, Dr. Goyal evaluates whether a transplant or another treatment is right for you. She will explain what each option involves, including what to expect before and after surgery.
A Closer Look at Your Complex or Previously Treated Cornea
Patients with complex or previously treated corneal conditions often need a more specialized evaluation to determine the best path forward. Dr. Goyal takes the time to review your history, understand what has been tried, and outline clear next steps.
Whether you have a new diagnosis or want a second opinion, Dr. Goyal will explain your condition, your options, and what results to realistically expect, so you can make decisions about your care with confidence.

Not everyone who wants better vision is a candidate for the same procedure. Whether you’re considering LASIK, PRK, a refractive lens procedure, or another option, the right choice depends on your eyes, your prescription, and how you want to see. Two people with the same prescription may be best served by very different treatments. Corneal thickness, dry eye, age, and other eye conditions can all change which option is safest and most effective. A detailed evaluation is the first step.
Options We Discuss
Depending on your eyes and goals, your consultation may include:
- LASIK and PRK, which reshape the cornea to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism
- Refractive lens procedures, which correct vision by replacing the eye’s natural lens
- Other vision-correction options, when they are a better fit for your eyes
What We Evaluate
We consider your:
- Corneal anatomy, including shape, thickness, and surface
- Tear film and ocular surface
- Prescription, including astigmatism
- Age and visual needs
- Previous eye history, including prior surgery or treatment
- Lifestyle and expectation
Sometimes the Best Answer Is “Not This Procedure”
Our goal is to find the options that are right for your eyes, not to recommend a procedure by default. That means we’ll also tell you when a procedure isn’t a good fit, and why. Dr. Goyal will explain what each option can and can’t do, why she recommends a particular approach, and what results to realistically expect, so you can decide with confidence.
Personalized Care for Dry Eye & Ocular Surface Disease
Dry Eye Is Not the Same for Every Patient
Burning, grittiness, redness, blurry vision, and tired eyes are all common signs of dry eye, but the cause behind them can be very different from one person to the next. Treatment that works well for one patient may do little for another.
Why Your Eyes May Be Uncomfortable
Symptoms may be related to:
- Tear deficiency
- Tear-film instability
- Inflammation
- Eyelid problems, such as blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction
- Environmental factors, such as screen time, air conditioning, or dry climates
- Contact lens use
- Medications
- Other ocular surface conditions
An Evaluation That Looks Beyond the Symptom
Dr. Goyal looks past the label of “dry eye” to understand why your eyes are uncomfortable and how your ocular surface is functioning. Your evaluation may include a close examination of your tear film, cornea, and eyelids, so we can identify what is actually driving your symptoms.
Treatment Built Around Your Findings
Once we understand what’s behind your symptoms, treatment is tailored to your individual findings and severity. Your plan may combine several approaches, and it can be adjusted over time as your eyes respond.
A More Personalized Dry Eye Consultation
During your consultation, we’ll talk through:
Your symptoms and daily life
- What symptoms bother you most, and when are they worst?
- How much time do you spend on screens, and do your eyes feel worse by the end of the day?
- Do you wear contact lenses, and are they becoming less comfortable?
- Does dry eye affect your work, driving, reading, or sleep?
Your eyes and history
- What have you already tried, and did it help?
- Do you take medications that may contribute to dryness?
- Do you have eyelid inflammation, allergies, or other eye conditions?
- Have you had cataract, LASIK, PRK, or other eye surgery, or are you considering it?
An healthy ocular surface also matters if you’re planning cataract or refractive surgery, since dry eye can affect measurements and visual results. Treating it first can help improve your outcome. Dr. Goyal will explain what she finds, what is contributing to your symptoms, and what results to realistically expect, so you can decide on your care with confidence.

Your Case Deserves a Closer Look
Some patients come to us after being told they have limited options. Others simply want another opinion before proceeding with surgery. Either way, a complex eye condition calls for more time, more detail, and a more specialized evaluation than a routine visit allows.
A Comprehensive Evaluation
For these patients, Dr. Goyal takes a step-by-step approach. She reviews your history and prior records, examines your eyes closely, and uses advanced diagnostic testing when needed. The goal is to clarify your diagnosis, identify the options available to you, and outline appropriate next steps.
A More Personalized Consultation for Complex Cases During your visit, we’ll talk through:
- What have you been told about your condition so far?
- What treatments or surgeries have you already had, and how did they go?
- Which symptoms concern you most, such as blur, glare, distortion, or discomfort?
- Are you weighing a specific procedure, and do you want a second opinion before deciding?
- What are your goals for your vision?
If you have them, please bring your prior records, imaging, and a current list of medications and eye drops. They help us see the full picture.
Clear Answers, Whatever They Are
Sometimes a fresh evaluation reveals additional options. Sometimes it confirms that your current plan is the right one. In either case, Dr. Goyal will explain what she finds, what each option can and can’t do, and what results to realistically expect, so you can decide on your care with confidence.
